The Society has sponsored the HKSTS Outstanding Student Paper Award since the award was established in 2003. Postgraduate students who fulfill the requirements are welcome to submit a paper for the Award. The applicant must be the sole author of the paper. The full paper must not have been submitted for publication or published elsewhere.

The HKSTS Outstanding Student Paper Award Subcommittee will shortlist no more than three student papers for a special session of the 17th HKSTS International Conference. A prize presentation will be held at the conference. HKSTS reserves the right not to award any prize should members of the Award Committee consider the quality of submissions or the performances of the candidates at the session to be unsatisfactory. Decisions of the Award Subcommittee shall be final.

The winner will be awarded a plaque and a prize of HK$2,500. The first and second runners-up will be awarded a certificate of merit. The three shortlisted papers will also be considered for publication in Transportmetrica.
