THE EIGHTH CONFERENCE OF HONG KONG SOCIETY FOR TRANSPORTATION STUDIES
The 8th Conference of the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS), jointly organized by HKSTS, the Airport Authority Hong Kong and the Department of Geography, The University of Hong Kong, has been successfully held from 13th to 14th December, 2003. The Conference theme was "Transportation and Logistics". A total of 12 sessions (with 55 papers) have been held. The Conference attracted nearly 130 participants both locally and overseas. It has been a great success with active participation of scholars and professionals from the academia, the industry and the government. Dr. David Pang, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong and Prof. Richard Allsop, Chair Professor of Centre for Transport Studies, University College London were the Keynote Speakers. Moreover, Prof. Ryuichi Kitamura, Prof Robin Lindsey and Prof. Harry Timmermans gave the Invited Lectures.

POST-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP ON TRANSPORT SURVEY
METHODS
The workshop on transport survey methods, jointly organized by Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies, the Department of Geography of Hong Kong Baptist University and the Department of Management Science of City University of Hong Kong, was successfully held at Hong Kong Baptist University on December 15th, 2003. More than 30 academics, post-graduates, practitioners and government officials attended the workshop. Seven speakers, including international renowned scholars (Prof. R. Allsop from University College London, Prof. H. Timmermans from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands and Prof. R. Kitamura, from Kyoto University, Japan) and the Chief Engineer of Transport Department, Hong Kong SAR Government, presented their papers at the workshop. The speakers addressed various aspects of transport survey methods. Participants found the workshop rewarding and stimulating.
