THE CONFERENCE

Established in February 1996, the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS) aims to foster excellence in transportation research and practice, stimulate professional interchange in transportation, and provide a forum for exchanging ideas on transportation developments. As a continuation of five successful conferences, the 6^th HKSTS Conference focuses on transportation planning and management in the 21^st Century. Presentations on new concepts, technology, practices, trends and modeling approaches, are especially welcome.

Papers in all aspects of transportation are welcome. Presentation topics include:

CALL FOR PAPERS

LANGUAGE AND PROCEEDINGS

All presentations and printed materials will be in English. Papers presented at the Conference will be selected to appear in the Conference Proceedings. The bound volume will be made available to registered participants.

REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fee is HK$1,200 (US$1 = HK$7.8 approximately), which covers the Conference Proceedings, lunch and refreshments.

POST CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

A post conference workshop on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) will be held in the afternoon of 3^rd December 2001 in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Intelligent Transport Systems, which has emerged in the last two decades, provides solutions for improving the performance and safety of surface transport in countries across the world. This workshop will provide the participants a unique opportunity to keep up-to-date with ITS research issues and the latest in ITS related projects in Hong Kong and other areas. Local and overseas speakers will talk about the ITS applications, planning, modeling, evaluation, and technologies together with potential development in practice. Participants of the HKSTS Conference may optionally join this workshop. The registration fee for this workshop is HK$400 per person covering admission, refreshment and workshop dinner.
