We are delighted to inform you that the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS) has been formed on February 9, 1996. The objectives of HKSTS are to foster and support excellence in transportation research and practice, to stimulate professional interchange in all aspects of transportation, and to provide a network and forum for people involved in transportation studies to interact with each other for exchanging ideas and information on the latest development of transportation technology.
HKSTS is affiliated to the Eastern Asian Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) which now comprises 16 member countries/areas in the Eastern Asia region; including Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar (or Burma), New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The 6th bi-annual conference of EASTS will be held in Bangkok of Thailand on 21-24 September 2005. As we enter the new millenium, we are heartened by the expanding pool of transportation professionals and their significant contributions to making Hong Kong a better place for present and future generations. In order to encourage you to be involved in HKSTS activities, we've decided to waive the membership fee for the year of 2004. However, non-members wishing to join the Society will still have to pay for the entrance fee together with the completed application form and curriculum vitae.
Knowing that you are actively involved in transportation studies in Hong Kong and/or in the Eastern Asia region, we cordially invite you to join the HKSTS. If you know someone else who might be interested in joining the Society, please refer our Web Site to them for downloading the application form. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
