The Society has sponsored the HKSTS Outstanding Student Paper Award since the award was established in 2003. Postgraduate students who fulfill the requirements are welcome to apply. The applicant must be the sole author of the paper. The full paper must not have been submitted for publication or published elsewhere.

The HKSTS Outstanding Student Paper Award subcommittee will shortlist no more than three student papers for a special session of the 15th HKSTS International Conference. A prize presentation will be held on the same day. HKSTS reserves the right not to award any prize should members of the Award Committee consider the quality of submissions or the performances of the candidates at the presentations to be unsatisfactory. Decisions of the award subcommittee shall be final.

The winner will be awarded a medal and a prize of HK$2,500. The first and second runners-up will be awarded a certificate of merit for their excellence in research. The three shortlisted papers will also be considered for publication in Transportmetrica.
